    Four College Students Received $100,000 Tuition Award

    FRISCO, Texas, Dec. 9, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr Pepper®, part of the Keurig Dr Pepper portfolio of brands, today announced the student winners of the 16th annual Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway, who were each awarded $100,000 in tuition funds during the College Football Conference Championship games on Saturday, December 7th. Eight finalists participated in the Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway at the ACC, Big 12, SEC, and Big Ten championship games, competing to see who could throw the most footballs into an oversized Dr Pepper can in 30 seconds.

    Former Mullen linebacker tackling the challenges of a first-year elementary school principal

    LITTLETON — As a linebacker for Colorado State University from 2007 to 2010, Dr. Rick Brewer knew how to analyze a situation in front of him.

    Now, as a first-year principal at Ute Meadows Elementary School in Littleton the 36-year-old in using those same tools he used on the football field when he led the Rams with 105 tackles his senior season.

    “I think my experience as a former team captain at Colorado State and a leader of 110 guys who are all pushing toward the same mission helped me. College guys can get wayward. I was able to lead that crew,” said Brewer, who was hired by Jeffco Public Schools in the Spring of 2024 to become the new principal at Ute Meadows in South Jeffco. “Leading educated professionals that want to do good things for kids, this is like second nature.”

    Brewer is a Denver native that attended Mullen High School before going onto Colorado State. He played football for legendary coach Dave Logan and ran track under coach John Hancock at Mullen.

    Coach Marx Takes the Helm

    There is no substitution for competition. Constant competition hardens and sharpens athletes.  It crossfits athletes and enhances gross-body coordination and enhanced near vision not to mention increases stamina and brings about greater exercise intensity.  Competition just makes you better.  Mullen’s newly named head girls’ swim coach is exactly that… a competitor.  Jenn (Belz) Marx, a 2014 Mullen grad, has always competed.  If she was not swimming for records, she was helping win lacrosse games or crewing her boat to maximum speeds.  In short, she Competed.
